News: TEEKS Returns To Sydney Opera House To Debut New Music Live

Four years after leaving Sydney audiences spellbound at Vivid LIVE, acclaimed Māori singer-songwriter TEEKS is set to return to the Sydney Opera House, this time taking over the Concert Hall for a special one-night-only performance celebrating the live debut of his long-awaited new music.

Taking place on Wednesday 18 November, the show marks the first opportunity for audiences to hear material from the next chapter of Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi’s career. His recently released single My Boy, his first new music in more than two years, finds TEEKS confronting ideas of queerness, masculinity and vulnerability with the same emotional honesty that has made him one of Aotearoa’s most compelling contemporary voices.

Since breaking through with 2017’s The Grapefruit Skies EP before releasing the platinum-certified debut album Something To Feel in 2021, TEEKS has cultivated a reputation built on restraint rather than spectacle. His rich baritone and deeply personal songwriting have earned him a devoted international audience, alongside accolades including Best Māori Artist, Best Solo Artist and Best Soul/R&B Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards, MTV EMA Best NZ Act and Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s Best New Artist.

His return to the Opera House carries extra significance. His sold-out Vivid LIVE debut in 2022 introduced Sydney audiences to an artist whose live performances feel quietly transformative, relying on emotional weight rather than grand gestures. Moving from the Joan Sutherland Theatre to the Concert Hall reflects both the growth of his audience and the increasing scale of his artistic vision.
