News: The Used Announce Orchestral Sydney Opera House Show for 2026

For a band that’s spent more than two decades turning heartbreak, fury and full-throttle catharsis into a global emo movement, THE USED have somehow found a new first to conquer. In 2026, the Utah icons will step onto the most unexpected and prestigious stage of their career: the Sydney Opera House, performing a black-tie, fully orchestrated spectacular titled A Mid Summer Night’s Symphony on Sunday 29 March 2026.

Yes — the band who once soundtracked teenage bedrooms and Warped Tour pits will now be backed by a full symphony orchestra and choir, transforming their catalogue of chaotic heartbreak anthems into something bigger, stranger and impossibly grand.

“The Sydney Opera House is one of the most prestigious venues in the world. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for The Used and we couldn’t be more excited.” – Bert McCracken

The announcement lands just months after their largely sold-out 25th anniversary tour, a five-city marathon that saw their first three albums performed in full across consecutive nights — a pilgrimage for long-time fans and a reminder that The Used have never lost their chokehold on the scene they helped define.

But March marks a different kind of milestone: their most ambitious Australian performance ever, reimagining songs like The Taste of Ink, Pretty Handsome Awkward, The Bird and the Worm, and I Caught Fire with sweeping strings, cinematic percussion and choral fireworks. The Opera House show promises to push their sound into new dimensions without sacrificing the unhinged emotional core that made them genre-shaping in the first place.

From their 2002 self-titled debut to four Billboard Top 10 albums, ten Hot 100 singles and festival-crushing appearances worldwide, The Used have built a legacy of brutal honesty and melodic chaos that inspired a generation. Kerrang once said the band’s colourfully unhinged post-hardcore “became a vital part of the scene responsible for breaking bands like My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy” — and in 2026, that legacy steps into the world of orchestral prestige.

With upcoming runs alongside Papa Roach, festival slots at Sonic Temple, a My Chemical Romance link-up and another chapter of global touring, The Used’s evolution is still far from finished. But their Opera House symphony show? That’s something few bands from their era — or any era — could ever dream of.

A Mid Summer Night’s Symphony is set to be one of the most surreal, unforgettable emo events Australian fans will ever witness. And like everything The Used have touched across 25 years, expect it to sell out fast.
