News & Track: No Cigar Bring Latest Album ‘Under The Surface’ to Australia This October

Somewhere between indie, rock, and that unexplainable groove that only seems to come out of Aotearoa, No Cigar have quietly (then loudly) become one of the region’s most exciting rising acts. Formed in Auckland, they’ve been steadily gaining ground since 2019 – sharing stages with Mako Road and notching over 30 million streams. A Rolling Stone Aotearoa nomination for Best New Artist followed last year, and the momentum hasn’t let up.

Their 2025 European run sold out venues across Paris, Amsterdam, Manchester, and London, including the 900-cap Islington Assembly Hall. Back home, their last NZ tour sold out in just 24 hours. Australian fans are clearly feeling the same way, with another Lansdowne show already selling out – a repeat of 2024.

Now, with their third album ‘Under The Surface‘ out in the world, they’re heading back across the ditch this October to share it in person. Produced between Auckland and Ashburton with Mako Road’s Conor Jaine, the album taps into the same warm, loose energy that’s defined their latest releases. The title track is a standout: swirling, percussive, addictive.

“Just as we’ve grown as people in the last few years since our first album, so too has the music. We never set out to make music that is ‘heavier’ or ‘softer’; we just find the time to lock ourselves away from the world, get comfortable, and open the floodgates. The way the heavier tones in the album balance nicely with softer numbers make for our most dynamic album to date. NO CIGAR like you’ve never seen it before.”
