More than five years after their last Australian visit, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats are set to return this December, bringing their distinctive blend of psychedelic rock, doom and heavy blues back to audiences around the country.
Led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Starrs, the British outfit have spent over a decade cultivating one of heavy music’s most recognisable identities. Since emerging from the UK underground in 2009, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats have resisted easy categorisation, drawing equally from psychedelic pop, vintage horror soundtracks, blues and doom metal to create a sound that is unsettling, melodic and unmistakably their own.
Their recordings are defined by haunting vocal harmonies, cinematic arrangements and thick, fuzz-laden riffs, creating an atmosphere that feels as indebted to late 1960s psychedelia as it is to the darker corners of heavy rock. Rather than relying on sheer volume alone, the band build tension through layered textures and an ever-present sense of unease.
That approach translates seamlessly to the stage. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats have earned an international reputation for immersive live performances that combine hypnotic grooves with crushing heaviness, transforming their songs into slow-burning, absorbing experiences.
Returning for the first time since 2020, the band are expected to draw from across their cult catalogue, offering Australian fans NZ ans another chance to experience one of contemporary heavy music’s most singular live acts.
