Virgin Orchestra released their new EP, ‘Let It Burn’. The EP was recorded in Sundlaugin Studio, a former swimming pool situated just outside of Reykjavík that was transformed into a studio by Sigur Rós. The release is the follow up to their 2023 project, ‘fragments’, which caused a stir in Iceland and beyond.
The release is a dynamic collection of tracks that fuse post-punk, classical, and shoegaze into a beguiling blend, all anchored around the entrancing vocals of Stefania Pálsdóttir. The EP was preceded by the releases of ‘Venus In Scorpio’, ‘Banger’, and ‘The Pathetic Song’.
The band comments:
“Let It Burn marks a new era for us as we showcase how we have grown as a band and as songwriters. And in a way, also as friends, as the trust in each other’s weird ideas has deepened and gotten stronger.”
The band recently made their way to the UK, performing at The George Tavern. In 2024 they performed at Iceland Airwaves, receiving acclaim from Rolling Stone UK, The Face, Dazed and Schön. It is set to be a busy 2025 for them.
