Vonswange shares the psychedelic yet infectious new single ‘The Magician’.
A unique blend of electronics with psychedelic alt-rock tendencies, The Magician sees Vonswange crafts a lush, layered soundscape full of punching electronic backbeats, arpeggiators and fuzzy bass tones to create a track which moves with a swaying buoyancy under surprisingly catchy lead vocals. The track floats between dreamlike atmosphere and emphatic drive, capturing both intimacy and a sense of sprawling, genre bending grandeur.
Reflecting on the roots of the project, Vonswange—real name Rob Losier—explains that the music was born out of friendship during a difficult period in his life. “A couple of years ago, when I was in a really dark place, I reconnected with my close friends, AJ and Kelly, and we started sharing ideas via text and voice memo. I began turning those ideas into songs and recording them for fun. This collaboration led to my first solo project, ‘Vonswange’, with our debut EP reflecting that friendship.”
The project, which takes its name from a scene in the hit film Bad Boys 2, officially debuted in 2024 and has steadily been gaining traction. With music that’s equal parts escapist and introspective, Vonswange weaves together action-packed instrumentals, cinematic textures, and themes of heartbreak, sadness, and renewal.
