weyvir has released the new single ‘Streets of Love, Pt. 1’, bringing an almost decade-old song into the present. Blending indie rock, alternative pop, power pop and surf rock, the track explores the restless, complicated feeling of being unable to let go of someone even when you know you probably should.
The song was originally written nearly eight years ago, when weyvir was still in high school. Its chorus came first, shaped by heartbreak and the frustration of carrying feelings that could never quite be expressed. He subsequently built the rest of the track around that initial idea, developing a story that has followed him from his teenage years into his current life in Madrid.
“I haven’t ever been able to give up on this song since I wrote it, and I’m finally giving it the ending it deserves.”
That sense of refusing to leave the past entirely behind sits at the heart of ‘Streets of Love, Pt. 1’. Rather than presenting romance as something governed by fate, weyvir focuses on the choices, missed chances and unresolved emotions that can draw people together. The result is a track that carries a strong sense of nostalgia while remaining immediate, pairing bright pop-rock melodies with a more conflicted emotional undercurrent.
The song’s musical DNA is equally eclectic. The chorus was initially inspired by Band of Horses’ ‘The Funeral’, while the beat draws from The Wonders’ ‘That Thing You Do’. Influences from the Beach Boys, Supergrass and Arctic Monkeys can also be heard in its melodic and rhythmic approach. Together, those references shape a driving indie rock track with an upbeat surface and a more complicated story beneath it.
‘Streets of Love, Pt. 1’ follows weyvir’s recent single ‘just gotta let u know’, a genre-blurring release that combines bossa nova with elements of grunge, pop punk and UK garage. Across his catalogue, weyvir continues to move between alternative rock and pop, with a songwriting style that often feels intimate and conversational, like late-night thoughts that never quite make it into a message.
Born in Calcutta and now based in Madrid, weyvir is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer whose musical background was shaped in the DIY circuit around Syracuse University. Since relocating to Spain, he has continued to develop a sound that balances rock songwriting with a strong pop instinct. He has shared stages with artists including Rebecca Black and performed alongside acts such as Picture Us Tiny. Outside of his solo project, he also fronts rock band Hard Fuse, taking on vocals and bass.
Across his solo output and collaborations, weyvir has accumulated more than 25,000 streams, while his collaborative work has surpassed 1 million. ‘Streets of Love, Pt. 1’ now adds another chapter to a song that has evolved alongside its creator for almost a decade. What started as a teenage response to heartbreak has grown into a more reflective piece of songwriting, preserving the emotions that inspired it while giving them a new context.
