Premiere: Atom Eyes Announce New Track/Video Featuring Andris Mattson

Atom Eyes

We are very pleased to premiere the new single and video from Edinburgh’s jazzy, neo soul band, Atom Eyes which is out for general release on 6th May 2022 via Creative Scotland. The new track, ‘You Do You’ features Andris Mattson of Moonchild on trumpet.

According to Lissa Chen Robertson, the song is about not being so hard on yourself.

“At times I feel overwhelmed, frozen and unable to function properly and I think everyone can feel like this at times. I think this comes as a result of constantly being there for friends, family and absorbing and dealing with all of their emotions whilst disregarding your own. It’s so important to be there for your friends and family, but it’s also important to be there for yourself and it’s okay to take a step back from time to time. It’s the most downtempo track we have written, but also one of the most uplifting. Also, Andris Mattson has written and performed trumpet on this track and we were so honoured to work with him.”

‘You Do You’ is jazzy brilliance showcasing lead singer Lissa Chen Robertson’s dreamy voice. The track builds slowly to a a crescendo with rumbustious horns and the band in full swing. After reaching dizzying heights the song slowly winds down and Robertson’s soulful voice again becomes the focus. It’s like a cooling rainstorm after a hot summer day.

Atom Eyes are Lissa Chen Robertson’s on vocals, award-winning jazz pianist Alan Benzie, guitarist Fraser Christie, drummer Scott Jamieson & bassist Tom Wilkinson. ‘You Do You’ is the third single to be taken from Atom Eyes’ upcoming debut album ‘Blue Into Gold’, due for release on 3rd June 2022, which has been supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland’s Open Fund.
