Premiere: George McFall releases new single, The Boyfriend

We’re delighted to premiere the new single, The Boyfriend, from singer songwriter, producer, arranger and session musician George McFall. as well as working for a number of artists, George has released two albums himself, The first under the moniker Clean George IV and 2019’s XIV: Surrounder under his own name. The Boyfriend is taken from his forthcoming album, again under his own name, that is due to drop in early 2021 on Tenement Records.

Of the track, George old us “The Boyfriend was one of a handful of overtly (potentially!) populist songs I found lurking around a hard drive in recent months and thought I should be brave and finish and release. I am in the process of finishing off an albums worth of songs in a similar vein – relentless, nostalgic, psychological soul music.”

There’s something Of the 70s about The Boyfriend, the analogue sounding synths that are splashed over it, or the stuttering of the guitars, it’s part glam- part new wave, with McFall’s matter of fact, almost spoken vocals giving it a good dose of attitude to go with the instantly lovable, singalong, chorus.
