RSD 2020: Track: Ted Cassidy – The Lurch

Out for Record Store Day 2020 is The Addams Family’s Lurch, aka The Lurch, and his 1965 monster track ‘The Lurch’. Mastered from the original tapes and limited to a run of 500 on Jackpot Records, it’s one of the rarest US Capital Records picture sleeves, and has never before been reissued on its original glorious 7”.

As well as looking frankly fantastic, there’s a little cracker of a novelty song in there too, a Motown stomper of a track, all horns, handclaps and soulful backing vocals, imploring Lurch to teach us his brand new dance. And Ted does, well, Lurch over the top.

Don’t just stand there……….

Record Store Day this year is August 29th.

Previous Premiere: George McFall releases new single, The Boyfriend
Next TRACKS: hear the Deadenz and MICROCORPS remixes of Wrangler's 'Rhizomatic': bleak and off-kilter retro-synth funk
