Premiere: Good Cop release new video for ‘Neighbourhood’

WE’RE delighted that, following on from Friday’s release of the album World Piss, Austrian punks Good Cop have released a new video for the track “Neighbourhood”; and we’re premiering it today right here on Backseat Mafia.

The band – Manuela Rabitsch, Bastian Andorfer and Aaron Dal – formed in Vienna in 2013, and have been active on their home territory since, sharing the stage with the likes of Stephen Steinbrink, Vex Ruffin, White Fang, Psychic Ills and Pisse.

On the new video, the band say: “Uh oh, video coming your way! We were also filming at the diy skatepark St Marx, such a rad place! Refined to consume it on your smartwatch!! GC ready for the 22nd century! (not).”

The track is a fractious slab of punk-infused indie pop, with infectious (if slightly angular) guitar hooks at the forefront and these boy/girl vocals mixing up the sweet and the sour. As it unfurls, so it takes these unexpected twists and turns, showing that Good Cop can pull us on a journey with the best of them. It’s scruffy, noisy, and incredibly satisfying.

Check out the accompanying performance video, directed by Bernhard Hussek and edited by Aaron Dall.

World Piss is out now via Vienna indie label Cut Surface.
