Premiere: In a blossoming collaboration, Tahi teams up with Robotikus to release the dreamy anthem ‘Tend To Me’.

One of our favourite artists from nipaluna/Hobart, Tahi, has teamed up with another local favourite, Robotikus, and created a sparkling gem of a track, ‘Tend To Me’: a veritable marriage made in musical heaven. We are honoured to premiere this stunning collaboration ahead of its general release tomorrow.

Robotikus is the moniker of producer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Targett and the collaboration with Tahi was a result of a gig the two played together. Tahi singer, guitarist and songwriter Leah Randall explains:

Back when ‘Wolf Grin’ [reviewed by us here] came out for Tahi, we had a launch gig and asked Sasquin and Robotikus to headline the show. After the show I had a lil conversation with Scott and I asked him if we could collaborate. He said he loved our set and he was interested in my songwriting. Tend To Me is our debut collaboration.

‘Tend To Me’ is a shimmering, sparkling track with a delectable dream pop/shoegaze blush, augmented by an instrumentation and production that veritably pulses with vitality and a thrilling verve. Robotkus’ magical touch can be detected in the ethereal dream-like layers: luscious and rich. Tahi is a band that is up there with fellow Antipodean artists like Hatchie and Fazerdaze in the delivery of dreamy, shimmering songs with an aching beauty, and this release is a testimony to Randall’s songwriting.

According to Randall:

The song is about asking the necessary questions. Actually they’re kind of questions that took some deep consideration, “save me” is being said which hopefully doesn’t come off as too desperate. Our loved ones sometimes need saving from weeds, storm clouds and voids much like the song’s protagonist. Remember that. It was written using an exercise from uni totally by accident. Liking the melody and chords I was working with, I consulted a journal with poems I had written previously “If my heart was growing wild just like a garden full of weeds, would you tend to me?” came from this diary and hatched an idea about the way the rest of the lyrics would follow.

Deeply imbued with a deep romanticism, the song is carried on an anthemic melody, a chorus that just bursts through like sunshine through the clouds, and blush of yearning melancholy throughout.

‘Tend To Me’ is out on Friday, 31 January 2025 and will be available through all the usual download and streaming sites and here.
