We are very honoured to premiere the new single ‘Lean In’ from Bundjalung/Byron-based band Off Judy. ‘Lean In’ canters along with a luminescent sparkle: seemingly incorporating the gently dappling sunlight of the region with an easy going air of yearning.
Finn Mcildowie says of the anthemic track:
This song is about embracing where you’re at, letting go of the past and accepting that you never really know what’s going on or what to do next – so just lean into it.
His voice has an authentic antipodean blush, an undercurrent of barbed wire to the sweet melodies and the poignancy in the lyrics:
I’m feeling older than I did before and I can feel it in my hands
The result feels like an epic widescreen sonic journey over three minutes, a hint of indie punk ethics and vivid, evocative story-telling:
‘Lean In’ is out tomorrow (2 May) and can be pre-ordered here.
Off Judy will be playing live on Saturday, 3 May at the Gold Coast. Tickets and details here.
