Gut Health and DJ PGZ have just released a remix of ‘Stiletto’ – I repeat. Dance-punk arthouse goth darlings Gut Health have joined forces with Naarm producer DJ PGZ for a kick-ons-ready rework of their expansive album title track. The result is a sickening club edit with serious weight – one that nods to both acts’ deep roots in Naarm’s DIY scenes.
What started as a spark after PGZ saw the band play in nipaluna/Hobart a few years back has since turned into a full-circle collaboration, with the remix fusing Gut Health’s driving, hypnotic original with PGZ’s distinct electronic finesse. Longtime Gut Health fans themselves, PGZ brought in regular collaborator Corey Kikos (Sleep D / Butter Sessions) to mix and master the track. The band says the love was mutual, crediting PGZ’s knack for elevating artists and championing community. This remix is, by their own words, a tribute to the friends, dancers, and scenes that raised them.
“We’ve been long-time fans of DJ PGZ selections, production, and the way he lifts up other artists and the wider community for such a long time,” Gut Health say. “The driving, motorik rhythm of ‘Stiletto’ already had that dancefloor pulse, and he really brought that energy to life. This one’s a tribute to our friends in the underground club world that some of us grew up in.“
