Premiere: Subsurfer release new single, Hollow

San Diego indie rockers Subsurfer are today releasing their new single, ‘Hollow’ and we’re delighted to be able to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today. It’s taken from their forthcoming fourth album ‘Subversive’, out later on in the year.

Of the track, lead singer, David Montalbano says, “I had a lot of friends who have personally not made it through these dark times. It’s had a profound effect on me and the writing of the song. I want people and friends to know we are all in this boat together, and though it may look like I have everything that anyone would want, the Covid reset has affected me in profound ways as well.”

Taking it’s lead from the likes of Weezer, Twilight Sad and Pavement, guitars splash and wrap themselves around everything, with the melancholy of the melodies (and damn, those melodies) and the sweetness of the harmonies making things irresistable.

Walk headlong into this. You won’t regret it.
