Kent punks Lady Bird have released a video for their latest single ‘Bludsuckers’, the final preview before the release of their debut album WE set for release 25 February via Alcopop! Records. Lady Bird is Don Bird (vocals/guitar/organ), Alex Deadman (guitar), Joe Walker (drums) and discussing the video, the band explained:

“You know how it is… Creativity works in mysterious ways. right? Mother in law inspires song, Bludsuckers becomes its name. Skaterham nostalgia takes a hold and then boom: Bludsucking vampire performs in gothic church skatepark! We had a good fun time getting our skates on and seeing our mates do what they do best”

What a blast this must have been to make! Putting a skatepark in a church is no mean feat and perfectly mirrors Lady Birds manic punk energy. Bludsuckers are those who literally drain the life out of us. We need to watch out and make sure that they do not get their hooks into us, as they offer nothing in return.

“Save your energy from these bludsuckers.”

In the video the combination of dracula in a church, alongwith the skateboarders really pumps up the energy, completely complementing the frantic music. But in amongst all the visuals there is a serious message here, one that is relevant to us all. Don’t bend over backwards for such people as they are ultimately selfish and will do us more harm than good.

The track ‘Bludsuckers‘ is out now and debut album WE is scheduled for release on Alcopop! Records on 23 Feb.
