Perfume Genius have announced that their new album, titled Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, that will be released 15th May on Matador. From it the band have released a new video to go with the single ‘Describe’.
Noisey, but at the same time dreamy, J Mascis-like scuzzy guitar riffs wash over the song, with an added slide giving it an earthy feel as over the top the almost ethereal octaves And harmonies that the dual vocals deal so well in sink straight into your heart.
The song is about, in Mike’s words, “when you are in such a dark place that you don’t even remember what goodness is or what anything feels like. And so, the idea was having someone describe that to you, because you forgot or can’t get to”, projected through a heavy fog of grisly distortion and crashing slide guitars. The video, self-directed by Hadreas, envisions “an end of the world where there are no boundaries, there are no edges, no rules, or the rules are completely new with how you interact with each other and the space around you.”
