The songs for folk singer Seth Lakeman’s new album, Ballad of the broken few, were recorded ‘live’ with an organic, acoustic vibe in the Great Hall of a Jacobean Manor House with legendary producer Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Ray LaMontagne, Laura Marling, The Staves and Crosby, Stills and Nash). Maybe its the location that brings out the rustic beauty of the track, or maybe its female trio Wildwood Kin who smother Lakeman’s voice in their frankly lovely harmonies that makes the track so appealing, but title track Ballad of the broken few seems to snuggle itself right there in your mind from the first listen.

Check out the accompanying video, filmed live in Torre Abbey, here

Seth is Embarking in a tour in support of the album, which drops on September 16th via Cooking Vinyl, with special guests Wildwood Kin. Full details below.
