Gritty, raw power, Birmingham punks, Table Scraps take it to the next level with latest release ‘Motorcycle (Straight To Hell)’. It’s a caustic, stripped back track that is equally at home on the dusty highways of California as the rain slicked tarmac of the Black Country. Add to that what has to be a contender for best lyric of 2015 – “Devil’s blood for gasoline, prettiest thing I ever seen” .
The track is taken from the bands debut album, ‘More Time For Strangers’, and epitomises the bands sound – dirty, fuzz laden, garage punk, a sound created with a single guitar fed through four separate amps accompanied by a stand up drummer. Scott Vincent Abbott and Poppy Twist maintain a full DIY approach to running the band, with everything from the music to the artwork and videos been kept strictly in house. “We wanted to maintain creative control,” explains Scott, “And it gave us the time to figure out how to make the record dark and brooding, or screaming and explosive, in equal measure.” It’s an attitude that has spilled over into their live set. Raw, visceral performances that have earned them support slots with some of the most exciting bands around – Fat White Family, The Amazing Snakeheads, God Damn and YAK.
‘Motorcycle (Straight To Hell)’ is launched as a single later this week. Table Scraps will be headlining The Lexington in London to launch the track on Friday 21st August.
‘More Time For Strangers’ is out now as a limited edition 12” vinyl and digital download through Table Scraps’ own Hells Teeth imprint in the UK, and on cassette via Burger Records subsidiary Wiener Records in the UK and US.
