See: The Coral follow up their spectacularly successful album ‘Coral Island’ and return to the carnival with the charming video for the sparkling track ‘Change Your Mind’

The new single from The Coral, ‘Change Your Mind’, is a chiming, sparkling track filled with celestial harmonies and a kind of melancholic joy. The guitars swing and canter with a picking and strumming style throughout the melodies and harmonies: it is an absolute joy.

The album ‘Coral Island’ is a tale of two seasons (see my review and interview with James Skelly), and ‘Change Your Mind’ comes from the sunny side of the street: you can almost feel the warm breezes, hear the lapping waves and the chatter of the crowds on the promenade.

Skelly says of the track:

If The Byrds, Jackson Browne and REM recorded a song together in Blackpool I would imagine it to be something like this.

The accompanying film clip is an animated joy that has a naive innocence about it: imbued with the same sense of untrammelled wide-eyed wonder and magic as the album from which the song comes:

‘Coral Island’ attained band’s second highest ever UK Album Chart position at No. 2, their highest for over a
decade. Well and truly back in business in the most spectacular fashion (it got a rare 9.3 out of 10 from me). You can download or stream the album in a huge variety of formats here.
