Angus & Julia Stone have unveiled the official video for ‘Karaoke Bar’, the title track from their forthcoming seventh studio album, due for release on September 4 via Virgin Music. Pre-save the album HERE.
Directed by Julia Stone and filmed amid the rugged landscapes of Tasmania, the cinematic clip stars American actor and musician Garrett Hedlund.
Expanding on the song’s themes of connection and shared experience, the video follows a solitary figure who finds unexpected companionship through a seemingly ordinary encounter. Hedlund’s understated performance brings a quiet emotional depth to the story, with the film unfolding against Tasmania’s dramatic scenery.
The collaboration marks another creative chapter in the longstanding friendship between Stone and Hedlund, whose mutual appreciation for storytelling informed the project. Julia Stone’s work behind the camera continues the intimate and human-centred approach that has long defined the duo’s music.
The release arrives ahead of Karaoke Bar, an album written during travels on the Greek island of Hydra and recorded across Greece, France and Australia. Shaped by movement, encounters and a renewed sense of spontaneity, the record promises to embrace themes of joy, community and creative freedom while retaining the pair’s trademark warmth and intimacy.
Since emerging with A Book Like This in 2007, Angus & Julia Stone have become one of Australia’s most beloved musical exports, earning multiple ARIA Awards and international acclaim through albums including Down The Way, Snow and 2024’s Cape Forestier. With Karaoke Bar, the sibling duo appear poised to enter another chapter, one rooted in connection and the enduring power of shared moments.
