Track: Bass Drum Of Death – Head Change

Steve Gullick

Following their tour with The Lemonheads (read our live review here) and inciting a mosh pit at Rough Trade East last month, Bass Drum Of Death have shared another new track from their forthcoming album, ‘Say I Won’t’, due the 27th of January via Fat Possum Records. The Zepplin-esque new track ‘Head Change’ is a nod to the classic rock greats.

After the mid-tempo bruiser ‘Say Your Prayers’, featuring Royal Blood’s Mike Kerr, and  the high-octane ‘Find It‘, today they nod to the classic rock greats with the Zepplin-esque ‘Head Change’.

Band leader John Barrett comments:

“With ‘Head Change’, we kind of wanted a mid-tempo psych stomper, and really didn’t change a whole lot from the demo. We added the duelling guitar bridge in the studio spur of the moment, and it ended up being one of my favourite parts on the whole record.”

A cool riff kicks things off over a steady rock beat that gets right under the skin. The incendiary guitar tone makes the track along with the laid back attitude to the vocals. It’s a chugging hypnotic beast that demonstrates the many sides to this bands sound.
