Track: Boorloo/Perth’s EDIE releases the buoyant indie pop track ‘Girl’s Girl’.

Boorloo/Perth artist EDIE today unveils the catchy slice of indie pop that is ‘Girl’s Girl’; a blinding ray of Western Australian sunshine that has an underlying feisty message about the worst kind of betrayal – that from your own gender:

Was I a competition?
Was I a threat?
Cos I don’t understand how it got this bad
In the end
I think I’m going crazy
You were my friend
Now everything’s a mess

EDIE says of the track:

‘Girl’s Girl’ is about the girls who just don’t support other girls! The ones who say they are there for you but then stab you in the back. And the ones who say “I’m one of the boys” or “I don’t hang out with girls, they’re too much drama!” I am exhausted with it! Let’s all support each other and lift each other up!

EDIE’s vocals have a gorgeous tone with Australian inflections that are redolent of Courtney Barnett, and a delivery that colours the brightness with a little acerbic melancholia as the ambulant bass and sparkling synths flow underneath:

‘Girl’s Girl’ is out today and can be downloaded and streamed here.
