Track: Buzz Violet Shares Infectious Debut Single ‘Energy’

The brainchild of London Based George Edward, the lead vocalist in acclaimed duo Petrie, Buzz Violet makes a striking, elegant and vibrant debut on the new single ‘Energy’.

An exciting introduction to the sparkling new Alt-Pop side project, ‘Energy’s easy going, gently swaying nature gives it a radiant appeal. Spanning elements of R&B and Bedroom-Pop, the track manages to feel creative and fresh despite, relying on a repeated guitar loop and lazy drum beat to pull the track forward while George’s tight, melancholy tinted lead vocals take centre stage.

As the track develops introducing subtle acoustic guitar lines and dappled moments of processed vocals, the chorus’s emotive undertones are amplified, ending with a pleasing cathartic feeling as the track treads through wild nights out and their impact on a relationship.

Speaking about the track, Buzz explains: “‘Energy’ is a confession of one’s tendency to drink too much on the weekend and make poor decisions that negatively affect the relationships with those around you.

I wrote it in the aftermath of a big night out where I made a fool of myself and regretted it – something I’m sure most of us can relate to! The narrator is explaining to a love interest that meeting them has inspired a desire to live life to the fullest by leading a crazy, hedonistic lifestyle as a means to recover from a dark period in the years beforehand. Although the love interest shares similar tendencies, they feel he’s taken it too far and he needs to ‘calm it down’ a little or he risks damaging the relationship.”

Honest yet impactful songwriting over an infectious swaying backdrop, this is an excellent debut surely signally more amazing music to come from Buzz Violet.
