COMING down valley from Merthyr to sign for Cardiff’s Libertino Records, Welsh-English electro-soul singer Eädyth has just dropped her first single for her new label, the languorous, conscious groove of “Inhale & Exhale”; a song that lets us know for we should sit up and pay attention on two fronts.

Firstly, that a new British soul talent with a helluva voice, on “Inhale & Exhale” singing well inside the pocket, reeling out vocal bliss that pitches in a honeyed groove and that means the eyes of the British soul scene should be looking west across the twin bridges with excitement; and secondly, as she unfolds a personal but universal tale of looking after yourself as it all teeters on falling apart, she has plenty to say.

“Inhale & Exhale” is Eädyth’s personal reaction to the uncertainty that the last year and half has brought into all of our lives. She finds the positive as she lets go of the fear, a positivity that shines throughout her soaring vocals and the soulful melody. Watch the lyric video below.

“’Inhale & Exhale” is a song I wrote about how I felt during lockdown,” she says, “the fears and the overthinking about the future and having to keep living life, but in this, trying to keep calm and to find positive ways to adapt into the ‘new normal’.

“I’ve been inspired by being able to go outdoors and take in the beautiful surroundings of Merthyr, inhaling the positives and exhaling the fears” = good advice. Embrace what you can, while you can. Breathe. Breathe slow. Be aware. Be safe.

Eädyth’s “Inhale Exhale” is out now on all digital streaming platforms.

Connct with Eädyth elsewhere on the web at Twitter, Facebook, Bandcamp, SoundCloud and at Libertino.
