El Michels Affair, essentially Brooklyn producer/musician Leon Michels is preparing for the release of his new album ‘Adult Themes’, and ahead of it he’s brought out the third single to be taken from the record, Life of Pablo, out now via Big Crown Records.
Life of Pablo has such a laid back warmth about it, with edgy trombones doubling the bass at the beginning, the descending piano line almost Christmassy in its feel, but then its all instrumental funk all the way, as it strolls along, All airy flutes, saxophone on the counter and muted brass -the epitome of cool. Expect to hear this backing a rap tune any time soon.
