Everything Is Recorded, the project led by producer Richard Russell, has returned with Swamp Dream #3, a stripped-back, almost minimal sounding single featuring Clari Freeman-Taylor of Mary in the Junkyard. Unlike previous tracks brimming with multiple contributors, as is Russell’s want with than project, this track narrows the focus to just Russell and Freeman-Taylor, who share all instrumental duties recorded at Copper House studios in west London.

The track is a haunting and atmospheric slice of synth-driven pop, with an unearthly quality that lingers long after it ends. Freeman-Taylor’s ethereal vocals are subtly veiled, floating amidst layers of slithering synths, gentle percussive clatter, and delicate piano motifs that pull at your emotions. The addition of swooning cellos adds a lushness to the minimalism, creating a track that feels both intimate and expansive.

This collaboration highlights ongoing chemistry between Russell and Freeman-Taylor, who previously worked together on Mary in the Junkyard’s This Old House EP and Everything Is Recorded’s Equinox releases. Swamp Dream #3 offers a hypnotic preview of Temporary, the highly anticipated third Everythingz Is Recorded album, set to release on February 28 via XL Recordings.
