Australian indie-pop artist Gordi has shared her new single Instant Life, a hypnotic follow-up to her ARIA-nominated third album Like Plasticine. Written in Los Angeles with Ryan Linvill (Olivia Rodrigo, Role Model, Conan Gray) and slimdan, the track finds Gordi leaning into pop minimalism with cinematic precision, later completed in Connecticut with Grammy-winning producer Peter Katis (Interpol, The National, Jónsi).

Instant Life is an invitation to a certain kind of recklessness,” Gordi explains. “The desire to feel nothing at all — to seek just a moment of escape. Find a mute button.” The track unfolds in measured pulses and textures, both lush and restrained, mirroring the emotional distance at its core. It’s a song about detachment that still vibrates with feeling.

The release arrives on the heels of a landmark year for the artist. Like Plasticine — nominated for Best Adult Contemporary Album at the 2025 ARIA Awards — drew praise from The GuardianRolling StoneStereogum, and NPR, solidifying Gordi’s place as one of Australia’s most distinctive voices in contemporary pop. The record’s singles — Peripheral LoverCutting Room Floor, and Lunch at Dune — showcased her deft songwriting and the quiet intensity that has become her signature.

Having recently wrapped a European tour and a series of U.S. shows, Gordi has returned home to perform Like Plasticine across Australia before heading back to the UK to support Låpsley, and joining David Gray on tour in November.

Across three albums, Gordi’s evolution has been marked by openness and experimentation. From the intimacy of Reservoir to the self-exploration of Our Two Skins and now the polished pulse of Like Plasticine, she continues to expand her sound without losing its emotional core. Instant Life feels like another step — reflective, restless, and deeply human.
