Hermanos Gutiérrez have unveiled ‘Los Ojos Del Cóndor’, the title track from their forthcoming album of the same name, due September 25 via Easy Eye Sound. Built around galloping rhythms, fluid lap steel and the duo’s signature interwoven guitars, Los Ojos Del Cóndor draws inspiration from the Andes and the enduring symbolism of the condor, a bird regarded by many Indigenous South American cultures as a bridge between the earthly and spiritual worlds. Directed by Robert Schober, the accompanying video follows brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez as they journey through sweeping mountain landscapes carrying a single white egg, adding a quietly cinematic visual counterpart to the song’s sense of movement and reflection.
Produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at Nashville’s Easy Eye Sound studio, the upcoming album shifts away from the desert imagery that defined earlier releases in favour of the rhythms, melodies and traditions of South America. Across ten tracks, Hermanos Gutiérrez weave together echoes of Ecuadorian and Peruvian heritage alongside Argentine milonga, cumbia and their unmistakable blend of Latin guitar, surf music, western soundtracks and understated melancholy.
The new single follows ‘Canto Andino’, the album’s opening track, which first introduced listeners to the record’s Andean landscape. Together, the songs suggest an album that returns to the duo’s earliest foundations while subtly broadening their sonic palette, with Estevan revisiting the nylon-string guitar he first learned on as a child and Alejandro introducing the charango into the band’s sound for the first time.
Over the past decade, Hermanos Gutiérrez have steadily become one of instrumental music’s most distinctive voices. Their acclaimed albums El Bueno Y El Malo and Sonido Cósmico earned international recognition, including an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, an Americana Music Honors & Awards nomination, and a national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Recent collaborations with Leon Bridges and Natalia Lafourcade, alongside composing music for the SURFILMUSIC documentary, have further expanded their reach.
