Despite not having officially released any music previously, 23-year-old rising star Sophie May’s online reputation most certainly precedes her. Already amassing a huge TikTok following, with megastars like Billie Eilish commenting on her videos and Celeste reaching out to suggest a collab, Sophie’s dedicated fans can now take a breath, as she drops her very first single and video With The Band. The release is accompanied by a second, entirely self-produced new offering – the softly bittersweet Bruises & Scratches.
These two tracks form a stunning first AA-side taste of an upcoming, full-length project (still in the works) from the Australian/UK artist. Co-produced by Sophie herself, with Joe Hartwell-Jones (FKA twigs, Glass Animals), ‘With The Band’ is an incredibly fitting prelude that demonstrates Sophie’s engaging lyricism, honeyed vocals and sophisticated songwriting style.

I started writing ‘With The Band’ at the end of 2020, while the world was still in Covid mode. It encapsulates the feeling of nostalgia when we look back on our late teens and how easy it is to romanticise the relationships that took place in that time. -Sophie May
Sophie currently has over 200k (and rising) followers on TikTok and was selected as part of their latest ‘Unsigned’ campaign, featuring on billboards across major UK cities.
