Irish band – from Drogheda to be precise – modernlove. continue their ascent as one of the most tipped and exciting up and coming acts in the country with the release of their new single, Don’t Wanna, and accompanying video. You can watch the video here:

Follow their recently unveiled offerings Us and the Valentines Day delight Follow You, which have found support across countless tastemakers including Wonderland, Hot Press and Official Charts, Irish Indie rock outfit Modern love return with their euphoric new single Don’t Wanna through Akira Records.

Channelling a glossier and more lovelorn direction, Don’t Wanna sees the band focus on the more romantically charged side to their sound. With its bright and soaring aesthetic, matched effortlessly with some wonderfully engaged song writing, the band are spreading their creative wings to reveal one of their most heartfelt releases to date.
Speaking about the track, the band say, “Don’t Wanna is a song about desire. We’ve all had that weird feeling at some point where you cant decide whether you might be kind of into one of your close mates.
It touches on the difficulty of navigating friendships and relationships as a young person, when such passionate feelings and sex are involved. We wanted to capture the excitement in the sonics as well; it’s one of our poppiest tunes but it’s still got that rocky edge to it.”

As the name suggests, Modern Love explore the complexities of the modern lives of twenty-something. Even though their lives remain complicated, Barry / Cian / Danny & Graham, all from Droghede have nailed their sound, delivering polished indie pop with a glossy 90s sheen and intricate details.

Ian Mc Donnell

Irish based concert photographer, maybe! ever so slightly addicted to gigs. Listens mostly to alternative / goth / folk punk / punk / ska. I blame the 80s.
