Signs are that Sao Paulo singer-songwriter Felipe Puperi (a.k.a Tagua Tagua) is really finding his groove. Known in Brazil for his sharp production work and fronting the slick alt-rockers Wannabe Jalva, his debut solo record, 2019’s Inteiro Metade, turned the spotlight on Puperi as a crafter of fresh tunes leaning in a soul pop direction. He now looks back on the shift as “… kind of re-discovering my references and myself as a composer.

That clarity, sense of purpose, woozy funkiness and intimate vocals brought Tagua Tagua to the attention of the revered Wonderwheel Recordings and as a result solo album two, Tanto, will hit the shelves on March 3rd. Expect a record of open-hearted love songs, simmering in nu-soul vibes with a spicey dash of today’s bossa .

The first single, showcasing the title track, impressed with its simple sensuous sway, swirling retro keys and Puperi’s authentically tender singing. Now the follow up preview Colors is sure to push the Tanto album nearer to the top of anyone’s ‘want’ list. It’s a cut with an upbeat confidence, sure-footed contemporary r n’ b, all rubbery synths, burbling bass-lines, fluttering guitars and a swooning pop chorus. Easing along with the strolling beats Puperi’s voice brings the natural personality, genuine and gentle with a whispering touch alongside the melody.

Classy, subtle and uncluttered, more signs then of MBP re-discovering it’s true soul.
