The Soft Cavalry is the new project of husband and wife duo Steve Clarke and Rachel Goswell of Slowdive, and July 5th sees the release of their debut self-titled album on the stamp of quality that is Bella Union.
From it, the pair have shared a first track ‘Dive’, which pairs the swooning lapping layers of the pairs day job, and strips it back and pushes it through this sort of War on Drugs / The 5th Dimension (yeah, check out that reference – you won’t get that from your trendy bearded chancers) to leave something that hangs onto the sinews of those heartstrings of yours and doesn’t let go. Its full of glinting sunlight, ripples harmonies from the pair and killer melodies.

They’ve just a couple of announced dates so far in July – 3rd and London’s Lexington and the next day (4th) up in Manchester at Yes.
