Track: Wire – Short Elevated Period

Nothing if not forward thinking, legendary post-punks Wire celebrate their 40th year in existance with a new album – their 15th, titled Silver/Lead, out on March 31st via the bands own pinkflag label. The first glimpse of what we can expect comes in the shape of a track – Short Elevated Period.

The band show no signs of slowing down either, Colin Newman and Matt Simms’ guitar lines as razor sharp and jagged as ever judging by short elevated period. Better than that though, is those trademark unmissable and slightly melancholy melodies that sweep over the top. For a band that’s been name-checked as an influence by artists such as Blur, Sonic Youth, R.E.M. and Savages, Wire head into their fourth decade as they always have, trailblazing and influencing a whole new range of bands and artists.
