Au/Ra returns with new single, SWAMP

Au/Ra dives headfirst into her most surreal soundscape yet with “SWAMP” – a hyperreal, gloriously weird hymn to escapism, the colour green, and even Shrek. She zags into a new creative chapter, one that’s playful, otherworldly, and just a little bit crazy – in all the best ways!

Produced by and co-written with Janeva, “SWAMP” (SUPER WEIRD AND METAL PLEASE) hums with energy, all heavy beats, warped synths, and shimmering textures. There’s hip-hop grit, experimental electronica and a dreamy, hypnotic pulse that feels like falling into another dimension.

Lyrically, Au/Ra builds a digital fairy tale, blurring the lines between pixels and poetry:

“I design where I wanna be / pick and choose on the touch screen / SUPER WEIRD AND METAL PLS / In the swamp ‘cause I like it green.”

It’s equal parts tongue-in-cheek and heart-on-sleeve – a knowing nod to internet culture and the chaos of online self-expression.

Speaking about the track, Au/Ra admits, “I love that you can jump into fiction and play through all these different worlds… Also, I love Shrek and the colour green.” Obviously.

After lighting up her sold-out headline tour and supporting Katy Perry at London’s O2 Arena, “SWAMP” cements Au/Ra’s reputation as a shapeshifting pop adventurer, one who’s not afraid to wade neck-deep into the weird.

SWAMP drops on 14th November. Listen on SPOTIFY
