Countdown to Rebellion – Day 17: Introducing Girls Like Us

Just over two weeks left now to sort out your Rebellion Festival schedule, and if you haven’t already done so, might we suggest you find room for these? You’ll thank us for it later!

Mean nasty noise from London is how they describe themselves on their Facebook page.

The band have just recently released a new, seven-song EP called Bitter ‘Til the Bitter End. It’s available at Bandcamp, and you can also buy the album on CD.

Their style is a mish-mash of slower grunge/punk, mixed with riot grrrl leanings. Think L7 with Kim Gordon’s best Sonic Youth moments, with some searing guitar work. Stand out tracks include My Boyfriend Was A Tory (So I Broke Up With Him) and Spoonfed, a politically charged spoken word rant against rich brats.

Girls Like Us are on 14:00-14:30 – Fri Aug 4thRebellion Introducing Stage (RIS) in the Arena

You can also catch them opening for the Svetlanas at a pre-show gig at Blackpool’s legendary Bootleg Social venue on Weds 2nd Aug 7pm to late, tickets £10. Local band Death Trails are also playing.
