Track: Cymbals Eat Guitars – 4th of July, Philadelphia (Sandy)

Taken from their forthcoming new album, Pretty Years, due out in September, is the new single – ‘4th of July, Philadelphia (Sandy)’ from New York quartet Cymbals Eat Guitars. Preceeded by the lead single from the record ‘Wish’, the album is the follow up to 2014’s Lose, and was produced by John Congleton.

4th of July, Philadelphia (Sandy) is a scuzzed up, scuffed up slice of indie rock, but not just that. Much more than that in fact with Weezer like angsty guitar lines and sing/shoutalong chorus’s, with little shards of synths and some good old fashioned white(ish) noise. If you can’t get behind that, then get behind those frankly stratospheric backing vocals.

Previous Classic Album (Glastonbury 2016 Special Pt1): Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Next Track: Dot Dash - Daddy Long Legs
