News: Annie Elie Returns With Second Single ‘Ever Since’

Annie Elie returns with ‘Ever Since’, an effervescent new track co-produced by Elie alongside Grammy-winning engineer Dave Hagen.

Following from the radiant debut single debut single ‘Phoenix’, the new single showcases the soulful warming songwriting which has seen Annie Elie gain initial traction. Built around glowing piano lines, a bossa nova-inspired bass-and-drum groove and a soulful vocal performance, ‘Ever Since’ moves effortlessly between playful intimacy and soaring expression. Drawing on Elie’s jazz training, the track carries a distinctly spiritual undercurrent, exploring themes of self-discovery, purpose and the process of reconnecting with an innate sense of who we are.

For Elie, the song emerged in an unusually organic way during a period living in the jungles of Kauaʻi.

‘Ever Since’ began as an improvisation while I was living in the jungles of Kauaʻi. The melody and words came through almost all at once, and it felt less like I was writing a song and more like I was remembering something I already knew. At its heart, the song is about that innate knowing we carry before the world starts telling us who we’re supposed to be. There’s a playfulness to it, but also something deeply spiritual—the feeling that life itself is a gift, however it unfolds. Recording it in 432 Hz felt like a natural extension of that intention. I wanted the song to feel like remembering who you were created to be. Remembering that you were created to create.’

That sense of remembrance is woven into the track’s musical character. Rather than relying on grand gestures, ‘Ever Since’ builds its atmosphere through subtle rhythmic movement, warm instrumentation and Elie’s expressive vocal delivery, creating a sound that feels both grounded and dreamlike.

The release marks another step in a developing career for the Florida-born artist, who has spent two decades writing and performing. Along the way, Elie has shared bills with Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek of Big Thief, Marcus King and Gabe Simon, while also reaching the final two of a songwriting competition featuring Grammy winner Shawn Colvin.

With a presence described by its fluidity and ethereal quality, Elie brings a long-established creative instinct to this new chapter of her recording career. ‘Ever Since’ builds on the promise of ‘Phoenix’ while opening a more intimate window into her musical world.
