Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Bailey Hamrick returns with The Guest Room, a raw and emotionally rich folk-pop EP that captures the vulnerability of heartbreak, identity, and the search for meaning in human connection. The five-track project builds on the momentum of a breakout 2024, showcasing Hamrick’s evolving artistry and lyrical depth over beautifully intimate soundscapes which blend traditional folk instruments with warming electric guitar tones.
Rooted in a blend of introspective storytelling and sweeping and atmospheric, yet often stripped back folk instrumentals, The Guest Room is a natural extension of Hamrick’s signature sound—pulling influence from folk-pop contemporaries like Noah Kahan and Lizzy McAlpine, while weaving in a grittier, indie-rock edge and ultimately creating a sound akin to Bon Iver’s ‘SABLE,’ EP. The result is an honest and immersive listen that delves into the fragile threads of love and self-worth, delivered with striking clarity.
“This EP is somewhat of a continuation of my last album, Just Around The Corner,” Hamrick shares. “While that album explored the process of separating from someone you love and moving forward, this EP, The Guest Room, is about desperation — the feeling that having a partner is the only thing that can fix my problems, to the point where I’m willing to give up my personal aspirations and what makes me who I am. Lines like ‘I am not afraid of being nothing, but I am scared of ending up alone,’ followed by, ‘Who am I if I am not an artist?’ reflect the thought process I had while making this project.”
With each track, Hamrick opens the door to his inner world, offering listeners a place to reflect on their own emotional terrain. Poetic lyrics unravel over acoustic arrangements, layered with warm guitar textures, subtle synths, and evocative melodies. The songs swell with emotion while maintaining a grounded intimacy—inviting listeners to sit with their own discomfort and find solace in shared experience.
“The Guest Room is an exploration of vulnerability, self-reflection, and the complexities of relationships,” Hamrick adds. “It’s about confronting the parts of myself I’m afraid to face and learning to let go of the things I thought I needed. This project is as much about finding peace in solitude as it is about the struggle to find connection with others. I hope it resonates with anyone who’s ever felt lost or unsure, and that they can find something in these songs that speaks to their own experiences.”
Since his 2022 debut, Hamrick has quietly built a devoted following, thanks to his ability to translate deeply personal emotions into widely relatable narratives. The Guest Room is another step forward in a career defined by authenticity and emotional resonance.
