London trio bar italia return with Some Like It Hot, their new album out October 17 via Matador. Borrowing its title from the 1959 Billy Wilder film, the record navigates desire, identity and performance through a set of jagged rockers, spectral ballads and unexpected pop turns.

Lead single ‘Fundraiser’, released today alongside a video featuring actor Matt King (Peep Show), captures the band at their most direct, with a driving hook at its centre.

It follows recent track ‘Cowbella’, which earned a spot on the BBC 6 Music playlist. Both songs sit alongside material that ranges from the playful shuffle of ‘Marble Arch’ to the stark urgency of ‘rooster’ and the widescreen sweep of ‘Lioness’.

The record is shaped by the interplay of Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton, who shift between perspectives and vocal styles. Cristante’s delivery moves from soft-edged to volatile, Fehmi alternates between low brooding and raw shouts, while Fenton blends soul-like melodies with sharp edges.

Some Like It Hot follows a prolific run for the band, who released Tracey Denim and The Twits in 2023 before embarking on over 160 shows worldwide across two years, including appearances at Coachella, Glastonbury, Corona Capital and a tour of Australia. Their live evolution has seen them move from dimly lit, elusive sets into a five-piece capable of both unrestrained intensity and quiet restraint.

bar italia will accompany the forthcoming LP with UK, European and North American tour dates, including a sold-out London album release show at The Dome on October 18th. Tickets for the tour are available HERE.
