Bikini Kill have added another significant date to an already busy 2026, with the pioneering feminist punk outfit joining the line-up for Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival, set to take place on August 29 at Great Park in Irvine, California.
Curated by Rodrigo, the event brings together an intergenerational line-up spanning pop, indie, punk and alternative music, with performances from Chappell Roan, Mitski, Garbage, Doechii, Santigold, The Breeders and Rachel Chinouriri among others. Special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O and Sarah McLachlan are also set to appear. In keeping with the festival’s ethos, all participating artists have agreed not to profit from their performances, with net ticket proceeds supporting organisations including Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights and the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health.
For Bikini Kill, the appearance continues a remarkable second chapter for the band. Since regrouping in 2019 for their first shows in over two decades, Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail and Kathi Wilcox, joined by guitarist Sara Landeau, have reintroduced their politically charged catalogue to sold-out audiences around the world. Their reunion has reignited discussion around the group’s enduring influence, with their songs and ideas continuing to resonate in a vastly different cultural landscape.
The festival announcement arrives amid an extensive North American run that is already approaching the halfway sold-out mark. Additional appearances at LEVITATION in Austin and CBGB Fest in New York have been added to the schedule, while support across the tour will come from Alice Bag, Lambrini Girls, Ganser, Kilynn Lunsford and The Intima. West Coast audiences will also have the opportunity to catch the band at Mosswood Meltdown in July.
More than three decades after helping define the riot grrrl movement, Bikini Kill remain as vital as ever. Their appearance at Daisy Chain Fields places them alongside a new generation of artists while underscoring the continuing relevance of the ideas and energy that first made them one of punk’s most important voices.
Ticket presale will begin Wednesday (June 24) at daisychainfields.com.
