James Blake will return to Australia for the first time since 2019 this December, bringing his latest album Trying Times to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne for a trio of headline performances.

Presented by Secret Sounds and Double J, the British producer, songwriter and musician will begin the tour at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on December 1 before heading to the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on December 2 and concluding at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on December 5.

The dates arrive in support of Trying Times, Blake’s self-released 2026 album and his highest-charting record to date. Exploring themes of intimacy, uncertainty and isolation, the album continues the deeply personal songwriting that has underpinned much of his work while reinforcing his reputation as one of contemporary music’s most distinctive voices.

Over the past decade and a half, Blake has established himself as a singular presence within modern music, moving freely between soul, electronica, hip-hop and alternative R&B. Since emerging from the UK post-dubstep scene, he has released a catalogue that includes the Mercury Prize-winning Overgrown, the widely acclaimed Assume Form and Friends That Break Your Heart, while amassing more than 2.2 billion streams across seven studio albums.

His influence extends far beyond his own discography. Blake has become one of the industry’s most sought-after collaborators, contributing to landmark releases including Frank Ocean’s Blonde, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., Beyoncé’s Lemonade, Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD and Rosalía’s Motomami. More recently, he joined forces with UK rapper Dave on The Boy Who Played The Harp and collaborated with Ludwig Göransson on ‘Séance’, a standout track from the Sinners soundtrack.

Renowned for live performances that balance understated emotion with immersive production, Blake has graced stages at Glastonbury, Coachella, Primavera Sound and Splendour In The Grass. With his first Australian dates in seven years now locked in, local audiences will finally have the opportunity to experience the next chapter in one of modern music’s most quietly influential careers.
