News: Broken Colours Shine On New Single ‘Before The Sun’

Broken Colours have returned with their latest single ‘Before The Sun’, a track that continues the band’s defiant indie rock ‘n’ roll spirit while delving deep into themes of mental health. The release sees the High Wycombe four-piece take a raw, unfiltered approach to songwriting, combining gritty indie craftsmanship with heartfelt, poetic lyricism.

Built on a stripped-back, slow-burning acoustic guitar, ‘Before The Sun’ delivers an honest and sincere exploration of life’s unanswered questions. The track unfolds in two distinct halves, maintaining the band’s indie foundations while offering a resonant anthem that blends authenticity with emotional depth.

Speaking about the meaning behind the song, the band said: “Before the Sun, this song is a simple notion and felt by all. Feeling overworked? Underappreciated? Does it feel like you’re taking one step forward and 30 back? This song is about balance as we all burn ourselves out, more so in this new ever so ever-evolving world. This song is to remind you that you are only human, and there is hope still.”

Formed in High Wycombe, Broken Colours have built a reputation for electrifying live performances, drawing on funk and rock influences to create their distinctive sound. The band’s touring history includes shows across the UK, Denmark, and Italy, as well as support slots with The Blockheads, Jake Bugg, The Zutons, and The Subways.
