News: Deftones Announce Explosive 2026 Australian Arena Tour with Interpol

Deftones, the Sacramento outsiders who turned atmospheric heaviness into an art form, are making their long-awaited return to Australia — and they’re doing it in the loudest, most cinematic fashion possible. For the first time in nearly ten years, the multi-platinum, GRAMMY®-winning band will storm Australian arenas in May, delivering a run of shows that promise the kind of visceral, atmospheric eruption only Deftones can conjure.

Joined by post-punk titans Interpol and boundary-pushing Australian force Ecca Vandal, the tour kicks off with a massive two-night takeover at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 2 & 3 May, before hitting Brisbane (6 May), Melbourne for a weekend double at Rod Laver Arena (9 & 10 May), and finishing in Auckland on 13 May.

With over 10 million albums sold, billions of streams, and generational influence radiating from White Pony through Diamond Eyes to Ohms, Deftones have never chased trends — they’ve created their own gravitational field. Their tenth album, private music, released in 2025, proved once again why their cult isn’t just fervent but generational: they remain the rare band whose evolution feels endless.

With Stephen Carpenter’s distinct guitar tone, Chino Moreno’s elastic vocal range, Abe Cunningham’s precise percussion and Frank Delgado’s atmospheric layers, Deftones remain a band defined by craft rather than spectacle. Their return to Australia comes at a moment where their catalogue continues to attract new listeners, and their live show has settled into a confident, finely tuned rhythm. It’s a straightforward reminder of why they’ve endured for more than three decades: consistent evolution, steady musicianship, and a clear sense of identity.
