News: Hàn Gắn Returns with Hazy Uproar in New Single ‘Pull The Pin’

The dynamic duo Hàn Gắn, whose name is derived from the Vietnamese word for ‘heal’, has made a triumphant return with their new single ‘Pull The Pin’. This track marks a captivating intersection of punk, post-rock, and psychedelia, delivering a hazy uproar that resonates deeply with their unique sound. Antagonistic vocal performances cascade through the arrangement, while soaring melodies emerge from an effect-drenched guitar. The track is further embellished with clamoring cymbals and driven by firm kick and snare propulsion, achieving a balance of scintillating ethereality and raw human energy.

Hàn Gắn’s J. Brian Nicewander and Matt T. Eng explain the inspiration behind ‘Pull The Pin’: “The song comes from a meditative and spiritual place that transcends any religious or political doctrines. It began with the question of how to operate from a place of heart-centered love for all, while being prepared to challenge the harms imposed by selfish leaders and exploitative economic and cultural systems.”

Formed in the summer of 2017, Hàn Gắn began crafting their first songs from the tenth floor of a Virginia high-rise overlooking the Potomac River and the U.S. Capitol. Growing up in coastal Virginia, Brian and Matt shared experiences of the vibrant punk scene that thrived in local dive bars, pop-ups, and basements. Their paths eventually converged in Washington, D.C., leading to the creation of their distinct sound.

Reflecting on their songwriting process, Brian shares, “It starts with observing and writing about the things we see happening around us, because observations lead to questions. Our intention is to invite listeners to question the world around them and to align audiences with what they feel intuitively.”

Matt offers advice to aspiring musicians, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the journey: “Music is to be played and enjoyed. It’s about the journey and how you feel, not what others think. Music is art. Do the art. The rest will come.”

With ‘Pull The Pin’, Hàn Gắn continues to push the boundaries of their genre, infusing their music with both a reflective depth and an unrestrained energy that promises to captivate audiences. As they heal through their art, their latest single invites listeners to join them in challenging the status quo and embracing a more heart-centered approach to life and music.
