The Same Same consist of two giants in the indie music scene in Australia: multi instrumentalists Philippa Nihill from the Underground Lovers/GB3 and Lisa Gibbs from USER/GB3, and their weapons of choice are keys, synths and vocals wielded with haunting finesse and subtlety.

The Same Same have just announced the release of an album of interpretations of their favourite artist Brian Eno, entitled `Before and After Eno’ and it promises to be something quite special. To whet the appetite, they have just released a video (directed by Andrew Blogg and cinematography by Dana Simon) for the track ‘By This River’. Set in a genuinely perfectly preserved vintage house, it is an enigmatic performance piece with some cool moves.

This a sombre, imperial version of the original with atmospheric elegiac march and distant layered vocals that are dissociated and chilled. A mix of vintage synths and dappling keys patter their way across the spectrum in a motorik beat:

The EP ‘Before and After Eno’ is out on 9 September and can be pre-ordered below – not forgetting it is Bandcamp Friday today after 5pm AEST and all proceeds go directly to the artists:
