Sixpence None the Richer are heading back to Australia in March 2027, announcing a nine-date national tour with Killing Heidi frontwoman and solo artist Ella Hooper joining them as special guest.
The tour begins at Canberra Theatre on March 2 before moving through Wollongong, Newcastle, Sydney, Tweed Heads, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide, finishing at Perth’s Astor Theatre on March 18. Sydney gets a Friday night date at the Enmore Theatre on March 5.
For many Australian listeners, Sixpence None the Richer remain inseparable from ‘Kiss Me’. Released in the late ’90s, the song spent three weeks at number one in Australia in June 1999 and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. More than 25 years later, its audience continues to grow, with the track recently passing one billion Spotify streams and finding another generation through TikTok, film and television.
There is considerably more to the Texas band’s catalogue, however. Leigh Nash’s distinctive vocals and Matt Slocum’s guitar work sit at the centre of songs including ‘Breathe Your Name’ and their versions of The La’s ‘There She Goes’ and Crowded House’s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’. Across their career, Sixpence None the Richer have received two Grammy nominations and released nine albums.
The Australian dates arrive during an unexpected second chapter for the band. Sixpence None the Richer reunited with original members in 2024 and embarked on their first tour in almost two decades, playing 50 cities across the US. They also released ‘Rosemary Hill’, their first new material since 2012, before continuing their return with international touring through 2025 and their first European tour in 2026.
Joining them across Australia is Ella Hooper, whose own history stretches back to her teenage years fronting Killing Heidi. After emerging with ‘Kettle’ and subsequently becoming the youngest person and first woman to receive APRA’s Songwriter of the Year award, Hooper has built a solo career that has moved through synth-folk, country and Americana.
That pairing gives the tour a particularly strong connection to the turn-of-the-century alternative landscape without making it purely an exercise in nostalgia. Both acts have continued making new music well beyond the records that first brought them widespread attention, with Sixpence None the Richer now touring again after their lengthy absence.
