News: Sumana Release Debut Album ‘The Flight’

Singer, songwriter, and composer Sumana unveils The Flight, her debut album, out now and marking a new chapter in her artistic journey. A pop-folk artist with a luminous sensitivity, she stands in the lineage of voices such as Norah Jones and Katie Melua, where warm, delicate vocals meet honest and deeply personal songwriting.

Between India and France, Sumana’s path has been shaped by deliberate leaps of faith. After studying at a leading business school and beginning a career in the corporate world, she chose to leave it behind to dedicate herself fully to music. In 2016, she began performing in the Paris metro, guitar in hand, developing her sound in direct connection with a demanding and ever-changing audience. This formative experience led her, in 2018, to fully embrace life as an independent artist.

Since then, she has performed more than 200 concerts across France and India, appearing at festivals as well as prestigious venues such as the Hôtel du Louvre and the Trianon Palace Versailles. In February 2026, her journey was recognized by the French Ministry of Culture, highlighting a path built outside traditional industry routes. In March 2026, she also received an Audience Favorite distinction in a national music competition. Her story was further spotlighted in a BRUT documentary that garnered more than one million views.

Following her first EP Easy (2022), Sumana returns with The Flight, an album born from a song originally written for herself. Through the metaphor of a young bird hesitating at the edge of the nest, she explores that suspended moment between doubt and courage. Built on refined melodies and delicate production, the album traces an intimate path between uncertainty and self-affirmation, inviting listeners to reconnect with their deepest desires and dare to follow their own direction.

Two collaborations shape the album’s landscape: ‘We’ll Be Fine’, featuring Vanupié, an artist she met during her early days performing in the Paris metro, and ‘Breathe’, a personal duet with her sister Sahana, a constant presence throughout her musical journey. The album is produced by Valentin Montu (Calogero, Florent Pagny), mastered by Alexis Bardinet (Ibrahim Maalouf, Hoshi), with drums and percussion by Grégory Jacques (Amir, Cyril Mokaiesh).

With her gentle voice and sincere songwriting, Sumana creates music centered on freedom, choice and transformation. Beneath its delicate surface, her work reflects bold decisions and consciously chosen paths. Following her debut EP Easy, The Flight confirms a more personal and fully realized artistic identity, rooted in a long-standing commitment to authenticity and inner alignment.

Sumana presented the album’s songs during a release party in Paris on May 30, 2026, celebrating the arrival of The Flight, now available on streaming platforms worldwide.
