Following their debut track ‘The Little Mess You Made’, The Favors – the collaborative project of FINNEAS and Ashe – return with new single ‘The Hudson’, a piano-led reflection on intimacy and loss. It arrives ahead of the pair’s first album, The Dream, which is set for release on September 19.
‘The Hudson’ opens with Ashe’s vocals over sparse piano, setting a scene of emotional vulnerability: “The trees were bare and naked, and so were we—two old strangers sharing really personal things.” FINNEAS joins in on the chorus with a line that underscores the track’s melancholic core.

Directed by Alex Lockett, the accompanying video moves between black-and-white stillness and nostalgic colour, placing the duo beside a river as they revisit the fragility of a relationship shaped by time and place. The visuals, much like the track, draw on retro influences while remaining grounded in a contemporary aesthetic.
The Favors’ sound takes clear cues from the Laurel Canyon tradition, channelling the likes of Carole King, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Simon & Garfunkel. Written between Nashville and Los Angeles, their forthcoming album The Dream embraces ’70s songwriting warmth with modern lyrical clarity, creating a project that sidesteps trends in favour of emotional depth and melodic craft.
‘The Hudson’ continues the pair’s long-running creative relationship, which began with their breakout single ‘Moral of the Story’ in 2019 and continued through ‘Till Forever Falls Apart’ in 2021.
