York alt-rock quartet YouVee have released their latest single, ‘Walk Of Fame’, produced by Pieter Rietkerk, acclaimed for his work with Catfish & The Bottlemen, Slowdive, and Editors.
‘The track’Walk Of Fame’ is the third single from their ongoing 2024 singles project and represents one of the band’s heaviest recordings to date. Bringing driving guitar riffs, double-kick drum patterns, and layered string arrangements, the band capture a high-octane punch that reflects the intensity of the band’s live performances while maintaining a melodic accessibility. Balancing its heavy-rock elements with an indie flare, the band capture a sound which is at once intense and explosive, yet caries a accessible appeal.
Speaking about the song, the band explained that it addresses industry nepotism and the advantages afforded to wealth or connections, with the lyrics critiquing this dynamic: “Walk of fame captures, and mocks the industry in a sense it feels like when someone is nepotistic or wealthy, they are more likely to have better opportunities in the industry – such as focus on me I’ll focus on you and the verses are rebelling against that view. Walk of Fame was recorded in 2024 as part of our singles project, with Walk of Fame being the 3rd since our last EP. It’s the rockiest single that we recorded in those sessions, so it really gave us a chance to crank everything up and go a bit crazy on it – we even put a string section in!”
